HELUKABEL| CABLES, WIRES, AND ACCESSORIES FOR LIFT & CRANE

In the industrial environment, lifting machines and cranes are important equipment and constructions. The type of cable used for these devices is called a power cable. They must have a strong outer sheath to withstand continuous stretching.

HELUKABEL's cables, wires, and accessories for lift and crane

1. What is a power cable?

Power cables are made up of many electrical conductors. The entire conductor will be covered by a cable sheath. The main purpose of using power cables is to transmit electrical energy. The installation location of this cable is extremely diverse: Indoor, overhead, or buried underground.

The basic power cable consists of three main parts: conductor, insulation, and protective jacket. For example

  • Power cables for single-phase, power systems consist of two cores or an additional core of a small cross-section.
  • Power cables dedicated to three-phase power will have three to four cores or an additional core of a smaller cross-section. The type of cable used for three-phase current will be 1.5mm2 or more in size.

2. How are power cables used?

Power cables are used mainly for signal supply and power transmission. These cables control the device remotely and it has the same functions as the control cable, which is highly applicable in the field of crane, hoist, or festoon installation.

Cables used in the above field should be equipped with a strong outer sheath with protection against continuous movement. At the same time, the cable sheath needs to be effective against oil and chemicals.

  • In the crane field, the power cables used are Neoprene NEO-Flat and PVC sheath (PVC-flat) with Shield or Unshielded versions.
  • Cables used in hoist equipment for vertical applications shall be manufactured with anti-twist features, connecting the motor to the hand assist.
  • Power cables or crane cables have high applications in construction: festoons, conveyors, etc.
  • The cable used in the elevator control installation is equipped with a suspension unit, serving the control panel of the elevator system. The type of cable used in this construction needs to satisfy: high flexibility, extremely small bending radius, long service life, and high economic efficiency can be achieved. Flame retardant and self-extinguishing features are also required.

TROMMPUR® Cables

Application

TROMMPUR® has taken the development of the neoprene type cables one step further. It is a robust, all-weather cable, halogen-free, tear and abrasion-resistant, and suitable for use in drag chains, in ship docks, on building sites, for conveyor systems, in mining, for tunnels, and for roadbuilding. For connecting the ski lift terminal positions to the control unit, surveillance of the joining rods in ski lift cables, as feeder cables for very high currents as for example in pump engineering, mining, locomotive, and rail-carriage construction, for oil rig platforms, emergency power generators, etc. The product is conformed with the EC Low-Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC.

TROMMPUR®-H Cables

Application

The cable has a significantly smaller outside diameter than similar cables, and the smaller bending radius reduces the amount of effective cable. Traction cables are subject to high mechanical stress, suitable for installation environments that often cause the cable to coil or twist. The cable series is suitable for installation in lifting systems and cranes, suitable for the harshest environments such as Mining, railway technology, etc.
