What are flame-retardant cables?
Flame-retardant cable is a type of cable that can prevent the spread of fire in the event of a fire. Therefore, in case of a fire incident, the cable will be able to maintain its operation for a certain period of time without affecting the quality of signal transmission. At the same time, the fire will only burn at a certain distance and will not spread to other cables. Flame-retardant cables are installed in places with high risk of fire and explosion and need to meet strict safety standards such as schools, public buildings, and hospitals.
Characteristics of flame-retardant cables
Similar to fire-resistant cables, flame-retardant cables are made from LSZH materials with characteristics that do not contain Halogen, do not emit toxic gases when burned, and maintain the stability of the transmission. Flame-retardant cables must meet minimum standards for testing smoke emissions such as: IEC 60754 or BS EN 60754, IEC 61034 or BS EN 61034.

Common types of flame-retardant cables

Flame-retardant non-corrosive (FRNC) cables
This type of flame-retardant cables prevent the spread of fire whilst minimizing corrosive gas in the event of fire.
Halogen-free flame-retardant (HFFR) cables
HFFR cables are halogen free, which helps to eliminate toxic emissions in the event of a fire.
Low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) cables
LSOH, LS0H cables are different name of LSZH cables. Basically, these types of flame-retardant cables produce mimimal smoke compared to other materials, such as PVC.
Flame-retardant control and signal cables
Control and signal cables that adhere to flame-retardant test and standards are also used in applications that operate in harsh environment conditions.

Characteristics of some flame-retardant cables HELUKABEL
1. JZ-500 flame-retardant control cable
JZ-500 flame-retardant control cable is used in medium mechanical stress with free movement, no tensile stress, and no forced motion control in dry, humid, and wet rooms. JZ 500 is used as a connection and control cable in machinery, tools, assembly lines and conveyors, production lines, in construction plants, air conditioning technology, in refining furnaces and rolling mills. This control cable uses PVC compounds that ensure good flexibility, efficiency, and quick installation.

2. Y-CY-JB Flame-retardant shielded control cable
Y-CY-JB flame-retardant shielded control cable is a flexible cable used in medium mechanical stress with free movement, no tensile stress, and no forced motion control in dry rooms, but it is not suitable for outdoor use. The cable is used in technology control and measurement equipment, machine and machine tool manufacturing, conveyor belts and production lines, in computers, as well as signal cables in electronics due to its high-density filtering and signal transmission without interference.

3. THERMFLEX® 180 EWKF cables
Halogen-free silicone cable for applications that require an increased mechanical strength as well as a higher temperature resistance. For use in dry, damp and wet rooms as well as outdoors. Suitable for use in air conditioning and heating systems, in saunas and solariums, in foundries, in steel, cement and ceramic plants as well as in furnaces and lighting fixtures.
