Outstanding features of H05V-K and H07V-K single-core cables

H05V-K and H07V-K are two single-core cable lines commonly employed in electrical systems in buildings, companies, commercial centers... with the task of ensuring seamless connectivity within the system.

Outstanding features of H05V-K and H07V-K single-core cables

1. Similarities between H05V-K and H07V-K single-core cables

1.1. Structure and characteristics

H05V-K and H07V-K single-core cables meet quality standards such as DIN VDE 0285-525-2-31, DIN EN 50525-2-31 and IEC 60227-3. The cables' insulation is made from TI1 PVC compound while the core is made of copper according to DIN VDE 0295, Class 5 and IEC 60228, Class 5 Standards. The materials used in manufacture are cadmium-free, silicon-free and free from substances which are harmful to the wetting properties of lacquers.

Both lines of cables work well in environments with temperatures from -5°C to 70°C while flexing and from -30°C to 80°C in fixed installation. At the same time, with fire resistance according to DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1-2 Standards, these cables can help prevent fire from spreading in the electrical system in the event of a fire outbreak.

Another notable feature of these two single-core cables is their wide range of cross-sectional options, offering users a variety of sizes to choose from. Specifically, the H05V-K cable’s cross-section spans from 0.5 mm² to 1.5 mm², whereas H07V-K cable offers an even broader selection for cross-section, ranging from 1.5 mm² to 300 mm².

Regarding packaging, cables with a cross-section of under 10 mm² are typically packaged in 100-meter singular boxes. For cables with a cross-section of 10 mm² or larger, the packaging length can be tailored according to customers’ needs.

1.2. Application of H05V-K and H07V-K single-core cables

In terms of application, both H05V-K and H07V-K cables are often used for fixed installation in electrical conduits, above or below plaster or similar enclosed systems. The cables are also suitable for installation in lighting systems or switching and control devices. However, they are not recommended to be placed directly into cable ladders and cable trays, except as a potential equalization cable.

These single-core cables have many colors for users to choose and combine, specifically colors such as black, white, blue, gray, red, brown, orange, purple, pink, green, yellow... Particularly, the H05V-K cable also has turquoise color. Among the above colors, green and yellow are only permitted if safety regulations allow, such as green is permitted for the identification of luminous decorative chains.

The range of colors not only offers users numerous choices but also enhances convenience during usage. For instance, in electrical cabinets, the distinct colors of H05V-K and H07V-K cables help users quickly differentiate between cables, facilitating ease during installation or replacement tasks.

2. Differences between H05V-K and H07V-K single-core cables

In terms of structure and characteristics, H05V-K and H07V-K cables share numerous similarities, yet they also have some distinctions.

Firstly, it's essential to consider the minimum bending radius under fixed installation conditions. For H05V-K cable, this radius is 4 times larger than its diameter. Meanwhile, the bending radius of H07V-K cable varies depending on its cross-section, with the maximum being six times larger than the outer diameter of the core for cables with cross-sections larger than 12 mm.

In terms of nominal voltage, H05V-K cable operates at U0/U 300/500 V, whereas H07V-K cable operates at a higher AC U0/U 450/750 V. Furthermore, H05V-K cable has radiation resistance of up to 80x10^6 cJ/kg (up to 80 Mrad), enabling the cable to maintain performance even in high radiation environments.
